Stem cell culture at liquid-liquid interfaces.
Nanoscale engineering of interfaces to control stem cell behaviour and mechano-transduction. Studying the mechano-transduction on nanoscale interfaces and investigating the cell behaviour on different controlled nanomaterials. In particular, the project focuses on understanding the processes regulating cell adhesion and proliferation at the surface of liquids. We discovered tha proteins can assemble into naonsheets at the interface between two liquids and that these assemblies display strong mechanical properties, able to resist cell-mediated tractions and enabling cell spreading and proliferation.
